What is your weather cancellation policy?
Our first concern is keeping our staff and families safe. Since most of our staff use Metro transit to come to work, if the Seattle buses are on a delayed schedule, the center will open 2 hours late. We will only be able to accept children if we have enough staff to do so. It is advised to call 206.632.3200 or email before travelling to the Center.
The Center will make every effort to remain open. Since Seattle Public Schools has made the decision to go fully remote in the event of inclement weather, we will be following the UW alerts for campus safety. We will follow the University in terms of late start and closures.
Prospective Students
How do you support children with food allergies?
For children with food allergies, we work with the parents to find food substitutes and prepare meals that they are able to eat. Whenever possible, we provide a substitute that is close to what the rest of the children are eating. The children are served separately on plates that are labeled with their name and allergens being avoided.
How old does my child need to be? Do you offer part time care?
We welcome all children, 8 weeks through 5 years of age. We offer full-time or part-time care. Part-time care is either MWF or T Th.
How do I get my child’s name on the waiting list? What if I’m expecting?
You can submit an application. We encourage parents to join the wait list as early as possible.” All the submitted child and parent information can be updated at a later date as details become known (birth date, sex, etc.); however, the original submission date will be the date used as part of the wait list prioritization. A $79.50 non-refundable application fee is assessed for all prospective parents applying to the waiting list.
So, what do I do once I’m on the wait list?
If you’re expecting, please let us know as soon as the baby arrives and update any of the previously submitted information (e.g. child’s birth date). Updates can be made on your parent/child profile located here.
Where am I on the wait list?
WCCC receives many requests for child care placement. We have worked hard to create a consistent and fair system. The wait list process is complex. We are not able to keep everyone informed of their exact position on the list, as circumstances are constantly changing and our focus is on providing quality child care.
If a spot is offered to you, you must notify the office within two days of notification if you would like to take the space. If we haven’t heard from you, we will move on to the next child on the list. If you do decide to accept the spot, you will be asked to turn in a registration fee plus a deposit.
Do I need to call periodically to check in?
No. Please update any changes/additions to your information on your parent profile located here. You can also remove your child from the wait list.
